Emergency Department
Our Emergency Department (ED) provides a 24-hour emergency service for adults and children.
We care for people whose health conditions are serious and require urgent attention including obstetric, paediatric and neonatal emergencies. More than 60,000 people use our ED each year.
Patients in our ED are seen in order of their illness severity, not in order of attendance. Seriously ill patients will be attended to first while those with relatively minor illnesses may have to wait.
Our ED has access to a range of medical imaging services on-site, allied health services and specialty areas such as an Intensive Care Unit and an Acute Medical Unit.
If you have a life-threatening medical condition, call 000 and request an ambulance. Find out what to do in an emergency.
