East Metropolitan Health Service
The Armadale Kalamunda Group (AKG) is part of the East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) – an extensive hospital and health service network that aims to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of more than 725,500 Western Australians in its catchment area.
Our hospital network works together to provide a combination of tertiary, secondary and specialist health care services including emergency and critical care, state trauma, elective and emergency surgery, general medical, mental health, inpatient and outpatient services, aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation and women’s, children’s and neonates services.
The EMHS health care network works together to provide a combination of tertiary, secondary, specialist and community health care services at:
Tertiary hospitals provide the highest level of care, often treating those with serious injuries or life-threatening conditions.
- Royal Perth Hospital – WA’s longest-serving tertiary hospital that provides an extensive range of services, including adult major trauma, emergency and highly specialised surgical services.
General hospitals provide various services across a range of medical specialties to meet broader health needs.
- Armadale Health Service – a general hospital delivering a range of quality health care, including emergency, mental health, maternity and intensive care services.
- St John of God Midland Public Hospital (external site) – a 307 bed public hospital providing services for patients in Perth’s east metropolitan and Wheatbelt regions (operates within a Public Private Partnership)
Specialist hospitals provide specific health care services, such as mental health, aged care, rehabilitation and elective surgery.
- Bentley Health Service – a 199 bed public hospital providing specialist care in rehabilitation, community child and adolescent health, aged care and mental health.
- Kalamunda Hospital – a specialist hospital providing palliative care, geriatric medicine and endoscopic surgery services.
Community Health Hubs – EMHS has partnered with the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale to design and deliver a proposed new health hub in Byford.
- Byford Health Hub - The goal of the project is to create an attractive and vibrant place, whilst helping people make healthier choices and meeting the health and social needs of the community.
