How our dedicated volunteers make a difference
It’s National Volunteer Week (20-26 May) and there’s no better time to celebrate our dedicated and selfless army of angels, who make such a difference for our consumers and staff every single day.
This year’s theme is "Something for Everyone", which invites all to discover the transformative power of volunteering.
Jannette Edwards is a Forget Me Not Volunteer at Armadale Health Service.
Janette has been involved in EMHS’ wonderful Forget Me Not program since 2020, engaging with and caring for those consumers who experience dementia and delirium.
“With many years of experience in aged care, I felt like I had more to offer people,” Jannette said.
Three days every week, Jannette provides compassionate support to vulnerable patients, a role she finds profoundly rewarding.
"Being a part of someone's healing journey, offering emotional support and practical help is truly fulfilling,” she added.
Jannette’s contributions extend beyond just patient care, as she also plays a vital role in organising community expos and supporting the volunteer coordinator at the hospital. In taking on these roles, Jannette has had a significant positive impact on Armadale Health Service and the broader community – something that has not gone unnoticed by staff, patients and other volunteers.
