Mental health inpatient services

The Armadale Mental Health Service provides inpatient services for adults with a mental illness requiring care. Our inpatient services include 33 adult inpatient beds (Moodjar and Karri wards) and a high dependency unit (Yorgum).

Visiting times 

  • 12.30pm to 1.30pm and 4.00pm to 8.00pm (weekdays) 
  • 10.00am to 1.30pm and 4.00pm to 8.00pm (weekends and public holidays)

Visiting outside these hours may be negotiated with the Shift Coordinator.

To arrange visits with a patient in the High Dependency Unit (HDU), please contact ward staff on 9391 2104.

Adult community mental health services

The Armadale Mental Health Service provides outpatient services to adults (aged 18 to 65) with a wide range of psychiatric and severe psychological disorders.

Assessment and Treatment Team

The Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT), based at Mead Centre, is your first point of contact for all referrals to adult community mental health services at Armadale. This multi-disciplinary team, comprised of doctors, nurses, social workers and clinical psychologists, provides triage, assessment and time-limited care coordination for consumers up to a maximum of 10 weeks.

Hours of service

The ATT operates from 8.00am to 10.00pm every day (including weekends and public holidays). This includes an after-hours service to individuals of all ages from 4.30pm until 10.00pm seven days a week.

Referrals can be from a variety of sources, including (but not limited to): 

  • general practitioners (GPs) 
  • private practitioners 
  • Emergency Departments 
  • police 
  • consultation/maternity liaison services
  • self-referral 
  • family/carers 
  • community managed organisations 
  • government organisations, e.g. Centrelink, Department of Child Protection and Family Support etc 
  • correctional services 
  • inpatient mental health and medical wards 
  • other community mental health services.

How to refer to the ATT

Office hours – Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 10.00pm

Please note that consumers seeking mental health services in person outside office hours should present at the Armadale Health Service Emergency Department.

Weekends and public holidays – 8.00am to 10.00pm

Clinical Treatment Team

The Clinical Treatment Team (CTT), based at Eudoria Street Centre, receives all referrals via the ATT. This multi-disciplinary team, comprised of doctors, nurses, social workers and clinical psychologists, provides assessment and care coordination for consumers requiring care for more than 10 weeks.

Hours of service

The CTT operates from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (except public holidays).

After-hours support

Any person requiring after-hours mental health support can contact the ATT on  08 9391 2400: 

  • from 4.30pm to 10.00pm (Monday to Friday)
  • from 8.00am to 10.00pm (weekends and public holidays).

In the event of an emergency dial 000 or present at your nearest Emergency Department.

The Mental Health Emergency Response Line (MHERL) is also available 24 hours a day to metro callers on 1300 555 788 (local call) and Peel callers on 1800 676 822 (free call).
