Kalamunda Hospital recently received a generous donation from the daughter of the late Derrick Roy Faulkner.

Derrick was a palliative patient at Kalamunda Hospital in 2015, and his daughter donated a bench seat in order to honour the connection that her parents had with the hospital during this period.

The bench will be placed in the new garden at Kalamunda Hospital. The garden is currently under construction and will serve as a relaxing space for visiting family members to spend time with their loved ones in hospital.

Clinical Nurse Specialist Cheryl Potter said she is grateful to the Faulkner family for the gift.

“We have plans to fit out the garden with a children’s playground, gazebo and benches,” Cheryl said. “Families often visit their loved ones with children in tow and it would be great to have a space that the children can play in during their visits.”

“The bench seat from the Faulkner family will go a long way to making the space one that our patients and their families can enjoy.”
