Boodjari Yorgas family care program

The Armadale Health Service Boodjari Yorgas (Nyoongar for pregnant women) family care program provides holistic and culturally appropriate maternity and postnatal care services for Aboriginal mothers.

Our Boodjari Yorgas family care team is comprised of midwives, an Aboriginal Health Officer and grandmother liaisons who provide support to our clients in conjunction with the hospital's mainstream maternity services.

Our services include:

  • practical assistance to access antenatal care in hospital
  • support during labour and on the postnatal ward
  • support for families if the baby is in the special care nursery or paediatric ward
  • support in the emergency department
  • home visits
  • linking you with other community services or support agencies.
